XO food tour on Cam Kim Island

Yesterday Findlay wrote a post about a motorbike tour but today I am going to teach you about a food tour that we took with the same leader and company.

Our tour was around Cam Kim Island, which is right across from Hoi An. At our first stop, we went to a house that used to be a restaurant. There, we had calamari. Delicious! Then we had deep fried shrimp that we ate head and everything. Délicieuse! Then we ate banana blossom salad. Amazing!

While we were there eating there was a tiny Vietnamese boy that came over to me and slapped his hands hard on my chair. And there was a dog there who then followed us for half of the rest of the time. It was so sad when he left us!

At the next stop, we made banh xeo which are Vietnamese pancakes that are delicious. To make it you put one tablespoon of oil in a pan on the stove, and then add the rice batter and two small pieces of pork and three pieces of shrimp, and then one more tablespoon of oil. You turn the pan around but it does not spill. Then you put bean sprouts on it then let it cook for 2-3 min. After that you flip it then fold it it and you’re ready!  (When you put the bean sprouts on only put 4-5 sprouts on or else it will break.) Then we ate them wrapped in rice paper and it was delicious!

Then we went to a boat and had seaweed-wrapped beef and Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwiches). Finally, we went to a dessert place that had different types of sweet gruel (I didn’t like that very much). It was a great food tour!

walking over to Cam Kim Island… we rode bicycles over there, motorbikes, and went on foot!
