We spent three days in Venice before taking a ferry to Rovinj (Croatia). We were sensing that some space was needed between some of the brothers, so I took William on a “night out” (what we call them at home where we take turns rotating between 1:1 time out with each of them). Living in such close quarters, it’ll be good to start these up again.
We had a really nice dinner, tiramisu, gelato, and a LIEGE WAFFLE! In case you haven’t had a Liege waffle, it is a waffle that is made with bread-like dough (as opposed to batter) and pearl sugar which caramelizes when the waffle is cooked. I wasn’t hungry in the slightest but was so excited to come across these waffles in Venice and introduce William to them! Michael and I spent a long weekend in Bruges (Belgium) when we were living in France in 2004 and shared 19 Liege waffles between the two of us over three days. 🙂
We then listened to a string quartet + clarinet playing at a cafe in Saint Mark’s Square. It was so fun. We talked about his/our excitement for his friends back home starting 8th grade this Thursday. We are eager to hear how the year goes for everyone.
Later that evening Keegan’s tooth fell out and his prize was Liege waffles for all the next day 🙂
Hi Anya, We loved our time in Venice and I have really enjoyed seeing it again through your eyes. Your trip so far has just been fabulous and it is so fun to travel with you to favorite places (London!). Are you going to put your family’s stories and pictures in book form? I would love to buy a copy! Safe travels and all the best, Linda
Hi Linda! Thanks so much for following along!!
Thank you–you are kind! Currently I am working on getting our pictures into book(s) form… but I have so many pictures that as it stands I will wind up with 15 books!! I have finished three so far. What a project! 🙂 Maybe I should think about doing a separate one that is a “favorites” book from the year. That would be a better option as a coffee table book. The other fifteen will need a bookshelf. 🙂
I will certainly get a copy of that “Favorite” book. Beautiful pictures! Thank you for the pictures of Venice. I truly want to go there one day.
Thanks Ching-Ching!
