We spent a few days in Cortina d’Ampezzo (typically just called Cortina), a cute town in the Italian Alps (the Dolomites), as a base for hiking in that region.
Interesting facts about Cortina: it will be hosting World Ski Championships in 2021 and co-hosting (with Milan) the Winter Olympics in 2026. It has also been the site of several film sets, none of which I’ve seen, but including The Pink Panther, For Your Eyes Only (a James Bond movie), and Cliffhanger. Now the James Bond paraphernalia I kept seeing around town makes sense!
