My favorite thing that we did in Southern Germany was to go to the mountain Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany. We rode on a really fun cable car up to the top of the peak, which is at about 9700 feet, took some pictures, and had some hot chocolate at the lodge. Then we took another cable car down to a glacier to look around and discovered a spot for sledding! We decided to go and it was so fun!! After we sledded for a while we went back up to the lodge to get more hot chocolate while we waited for some clouds to clear away. At the base of the mountain it was 81 F but at the top it was about 45 F. It was chilly but we still wound up needing to take off our jackets because it was so warm walking our sleds back up the hill! That day was so fun!
Incredible! We had thought of visiting it on our last trip to Germany as well, but I believe it was closed to tourists for the season when we were there in December.
I hope you can go on your next trip! It was really amazing!!
That looks like SO much fun! What a neat experience! When I was living in Germany we traveled to Innsbruck, Austria and skied on a glacier in June. I had never at that point been on snow in June and it was a neat experience. Sledding in July is one for the memory books! My kids would have loved that but I bet it was hard work walking back up every time. Thank you for sharing your experience and the pictures! Blessings on you and your family!
Thank you Mrs Hakkarainen! Wow! Skiing on a glacier sounds amazing!! It was really hard walking back up!
