While we were in Salzburg we took a funicular up to Hohensalzburg Fortress, which overlooks the city. Construction on Hohensalzburg first began in the 11th century and saw many upgrades and alterations over the following centuries. One of my favorite parts of our tour was listening to an audio guide describe the history and explain the major changes that took place over the years. The tour led us to the very top of the fortress where we had a 360 degree view of Salzburg and beyond. It was really stunning!
It indeed looks stunning and I had to look up what a funicular was. How fun!
