You want Thai food? Come to… the cooking class!

A few days ago we went to a cooking class. We rode there in a van from the cooking class company. We started out at a market where our cooking teacher taught us about all of the ingredients that we would be cooking with.  The things that we were cooking with all came from the market, but when we started cooking we cooked at a farm in a kitchen space where the knifes, cutting boards, tables, woks, and even stoves were prepared.  When we were doing the cooking, I was partnered up with my dad and Tate was partnered up with my mom. Findlay and William got to cook by themselves. We started out at the cutting boards preparing to make Pad Thai. The cooking teacher gave us the ingredients we needed to chop up and made sure we put them in the right piles. Then we went over to the woks and cooked it all. We put some oil in the wok, then added some garlic, them some eggs and noodles and more ingredients. In the end it created some delicious Thai food! Then we went over to a table and all chose seats. I sat next to my partner to share the Thai food.  It was delicious! It was one of the best Thai dishes I’ve had in Thailand. I couldn’t believe we actually made that and it made me wonder if I was a better cook than the ones in some restaurants!  Another dish we made was deep-fried bananas, which was the dessert we chose to make. It was so good once we got to eat it! When we were making them, we first made some batter, which i remember had sesame seeds in it. The batter tasted really good. Then we cut the banana into three long pieces and mixed it all around in the batter, being careful not to break the bananas apart. After that we took them over to a wok that already had boiling hot oil in it and that’s where we deep-fried them. Hence the name, deep-fried bananas!

We met people in our group from Seattle and chatted with them in the van on the ride home. They recommended some restaurants and then a couple days later we went to the restaurants and loved them and even ran into the people from Seattle!
