Visiting Rovinj, on the Istrian Peninsula, made sense to do after Venice since there was a ferry between the two cities (just under three hours), and going in late August allowed us to see Croatia in its summer glory. We’ll be back to Croatia in a couple months to explore more of the country, but we will be further south and the weather will have turned. (That doesn’t sound so bad right now after having spent the past five weeks mostly outside in 90F+ weather.) I’m glad we got to see Rovinj when it was warm, especially since we had good air conditioning!
We were there for five nights, six days, but felt like we could’ve stayed much longer–especially after we finally found a regular-sized, well-stocked grocery store! It was good timing for a relaxing stay since a few of us were fighting a cold for at least part of our time there. We rested, swam, did laundry, schooling, walked around the old town, climbed the bell tower, etc. It was very mellow and very pleasant!
Next onto Berlin!
