We had a wonderful almost-week in Parga relaxing, rejuvenating, and celebrating Michael’s birthday. It was a good time to slow down! Parga is on the west coast of Greece (near Corfu). We’d thought about driving up the coast to take the ferry over to Corfu for a day but decided to stay put and make it a more relaxing time. Parga is a resort town and many places had already closed for the season — the resort where we stayed closed for the winter three days after we left (even though it was still 80F!)! The town felt a little sleepy but we enjoyed the much smaller crowds than if we’d been there during the summer.
Parga beach and town views:
So sorry that the coffee shop was never open while you guys were there! I remember that when I traveled in Greece for one month I really wanted to try a very well known cafe (it’s their pastries I wanted to try!), but it was never opened while I was in town. There was no sign or notice posted on the cafe, so many people went there every day to check out this place, but no one actually knew why it was closed. Soon after I left my friend told me that they opened it but they never bothered to put up a sign to let the customers know when they would open again. I guess it’s just the Greek way?
That’s such a bummer! It’s so peculiar to me that they close without any communication to the public. There was a restaurant closed in Naxos that we’d really wanted to try as well…. but at least with that one, they put a hand-written sign on the window (in Greek – which was a good challenge for William to decipher!).
Beautiful! The drive looks like it was equally spellbinding.
It was so nice! It was hard not to stop around every corner for pictures!
