Update on Keegan’s Tongue: Success!

Thank you again for all your prayers and encouragement about Keegan’s tongue. He’s very grateful (as we all are)! I’m happy to report that he just finished his third large bowl of ice cream, and each of the 12 scoops has helped soothe his surgically-repaired tongue. Everything went great, and we’re so appreciative of the Serbian hospital medical staff for how sweet and attentive they were with Keegan all day. We’re so relieved to have that taken care of. He has some discomfort, and said it feels like they gave him tongue implants, but he’s in excellent spirits and has already gotten back to his dancing ways.

One quick add-on story to this post. Last night, I went to take a shower and as I was closing the glass sliding door, it wobbled a couple times and then completely exploded all over me. I have no idea how it happened, but glass was suddenly everywhere and I had about 5-6 scratches that immediately appeared. Praise God it was me in there and not one of our boys, and also that those were my only injuries and they were completely superficial. What was even more amazing was that our good friend Trevor had just arrived in Belgrade a few hours earlier to visit us, so I was able to walk over to his place to shower and wash all the little minuscule glass remnants off. It made for a very exciting night before our long day at the hospital today (we were there for about eight hours in total). We’re all pretty sleepy and happy to have that last 20 hours behind us!

waiting in the room prior to the surgery…with Trevor!
distracting Keegan right after they put in the IV port (he did NOT like that part)
carrying Keegan to the surgical room
after the hand-off to the surgical team, who are all engaging Keegan and being so kind
looking at this, still can’t believe I escaped with a few scratches
