The big, friendly elephants

A few days ago we went to an elephant sanctuary! We got there by driving in the back of a songthaew with a bunch of other people. It was very crowded. We met a nice couple from New York that we made friends with.

At the elephant sanctuary we got to pet the elephants, feed the elephants, and wash the elephants. We even got to splatter mud all over their stomachs. I would describe the elephants as being nice, slow, and very greedy with their bananas. When we handed them bananas, they were just like “I’ll take that!” And they snatched it from our hands. It was a very fun experience being around them and it was kind of scary being right next to them and when they were behind me because I felt like any second they could just run really fast and trample me. I was afraid that they were so big and so tall that they wouldn’t even notice me. Their eyes were at least one and a half feet above my head. The elephants were very gentle giants, though. They were giants compared to me, but they were very gentle. Sometimes it looked like they were smiling or snickering or laughing or chuckling. We had so much fun with the elephants and I would love to go there again.
