Singapore’s many warnings

Singapore is a fascinating country with a lot of rules. We knew going in that we needed to do a complete 180 on the issue of jaywalking, having spent three months mostly in countries where jaywalking is a necessity and going to a country where jaywalking is a criminal offense punishable by up to 3 months in jail. We had read of a few other quirky-to-us laws before arriving, such as no spitting and no gum chewing. What’s especially interesting about Singapore is the great lengths they go to not only to severely punish criminals as a deterrent, but also to post warnings trying to stop criminal and reckless behavior before incidents happen.

the colorful drawing is a nice touch on this one
again…the drawings make it obvious what they’re referencing, in case there was any confusion. As an aside, we never came across any signs announcing where the poop & pee zones actually were
going the extra mile to show how the body may react to an electric shock
Anya and I couldn’t quite figure out if the no-sleeping-in-the-toilet rule applied to staff only, or if the staff were the only ones allowed to sleep in the toilet. Also, there’s something amazing about listing 14 things that are forbidden and following that up with “ALL ARE WELCOME”
no additional warnings here, but we loved the mural
