Selfie Time!

A few days ago, we were out looking for dinner at an open-air shopping area (we were on our fifth attempt at finding a restaurant that had space for us–it was New Year’s Day, a national holiday, and everywhere was so busy!). Dad, Findlay, and Tate left to go scout out another restaurant, and Keegan and I sat down on a step to do some reading. Right next to us were about 8-10 older ladies who were taking pictures of each other and enjoying their time together. I offered to take a picture of them, and after some confusion because we didn’t speak the same language, one handed me her phone. I took a few pictures of them doing different funny poses (their idea) and then returned the phone. I sat back down with Keegan and then a few of them came back over to us. They sat down behind us and next to us – and practically right on us – and started taking every possible combination of selfies and pictures with us, sometimes while holding onto our ears! Some were taking selfies with us while others were taking pictures of the ladies taking the selfies with us. Then a few got in line to have pictures taken with Mom, who had been standing and watching and laughing really hard, and then they started taking turns holding her really tightly in a hug while someone else would take a picture. We (and they) were all laughing so hard! They finished with the pictures, we all thanked each other, and then we left. We found Dad, Findlay, and Tate, still confused about what had just happened! We found a place for dinner and laughed at the memories and pictures from our evening.

Michael: Keegan, you look a little nervous in the pictures; did you feel nervous?
Keegan (giggling): No, I just felt slightly terrified.
