Graffiti artists have made good use of the communist-style concrete buildings that are all over Sofia!


Below: this 3-story mural is worth a closer inspection. We were confused why she is holding an American football helmet, and even more perplexing is the hamburger people at the bottom spraying a hose at a dragon.



Below: portrait of Lyuben Karavelov who was a key participant in the Bulgarian National Revival of the 19th century. He was also a writer and is credited with authoring one of the first original Bulgarian novels. The words above him translate to, “I love you, my dear fatherland!”


Below: without the toothy grin, this would just be kind of an ugly wall, but a little well-placed paint transforms it completely
