Spicy Mentos in Plitvice Lakes National Park

Since we were planning to be so close to Croatia, we decided to return and visit Plitvice Lakes National Park–something we didn’t make time for last summer when we were there but knew was something we hoped to do in the future. We went on a really fun 5-ish mile hike and after every turn in the path there was a new incredible sight to see. The water was so clear and the mountains were beautiful. A tradition that we have when we hike is to each get a pack of Mentos to take with us. This time we also got a pack of Mentos that had three unusual flavors: apple cinnamon, mango chili, and orange ginger. They were surprisingly good! In Plitvice, there were a ton of little trickling waterfalls and some really big waterfalls. The water was refreshingly cold but sadly they banned swimming in 2006. The hike took us about 4 hours, including a short boat ride and a brief train ride (which wasn’t actually a train but they called it a train) and I loved every bit about it. I am really looking forward to more hiking this summer!!

a meat platter (my dad’s, Keegan’s, and Tate’s dinner one evening)… something very popular in restaurants in the Balkans

sights from around the park:

testing out the water! it was so clear!
at one point we boarded a boat like this to stick to our chosen route
the “train” that we rode for the last stretch that seemed only to be for cars
