We left Budapest and arrived late in Athens and stayed in Piraeus (the port city) overnight. The next morning we took a ferry that was 5 hours and 15 minutes to get to Naxos which is one of Greece’s islands! Then we had a long, bumpy walk to our hotel. Once we got there, I was really glad we had a hotel like that and I was really glad that we got to stay next to the beach (the beach was just across a little street and through a little restaurant and then you were there). We were there for four days. Every day we swam and the first day that we swam, Findlay, Tate, and I played a tackling game where we just went around the water kind of like sumo wrestlers tackling each other. And then we had a mud fight! Then we swam some more. The second day was also super fun. We went to a big rock that reminded me of Stonehenge. It was called the Temple of Apollo. Then we went back to our hotel. It was super hot so we swam for a little bit and ran down the beach. Then I got a really sour lemon juice drink at the restaurant on the beach and did some math with my mom and dad. On the last day when we were swimming, my mom and dad swam with us. While we were swimming my brothers and I had the most epic mud fight! It was super fun. After the last day finished, I was really sad to leave Naxos. I had so much fun there and I was really sad because I loved our beach hotel.
Dear Hartshorn family! I can’t believe that you were in Naxos!! I was at the SAME SPOT where you took the pictures overlooking at the Appolo temple! Instead of heading to Mykonos, where is flooded with lots of tourists, I went to Naxos for three days and I have to say Naxos is so wonderful! It was peaceful and the sunset view is probably one of the best I have ever seen in my life. Thank you for bringing me sweet memories of Naxos. I really miss it.
