The Schonbrunn Palace in Vienna was home to the Habsburg Royal Family from 1438-1740. There are 1441 rooms are in the palace. When we went on the tour we only got to see 26 rooms but they were so pretty. Emperor Francis l and Empress Maria Theresa had 11 daughters and 5 sons!! Only ten survived to adulthood. The funny thing was that all of the daughters looked the same! When Mozart was only six years old, the Empress invited him to play music at the house and we got to see where he performed. After we toured the house we went up to the top of a hill behind the house called the Gloriette. It was so pretty. The day before, we climbed and looked around inside St. Stephen’s Cathedral, which was built in 1905. We love climbing towers!
We had a very funny guide at the Schonbrunn Palace! Have you had Mozart candy? It’s good, isn’t it? Linda
Hi Linda! Oh no! In that case, I am sad to have missed it! We saw it all over but assumed it was not good (figured it was catering to tourists). I see now that it has been around for 130 years! We might be back in Austria next summer… We will be on the look out for it then. 🙂
I love the seeing your beautiful family and your great pictures full of history and amazing memories!
