We’ve been so surprised by how all-out the Thai people go with Christmas decorations! They come from a very different place, being a primarily Buddhist country, but we’ve found it very interesting how many Christ-worshiping songs are played all over the place. We love it! (We do also hear “All I Want for Christmas” about six times a day.) bummer! Our last day in Bangkok was the 11th. Jai Fai (the name of both the woman and the restaurant), is featured in Netflix’s series, “Street Food,” and we’d hoped to get to try her dishes which earned her Bangkok’s first Michelin-starred street food. Ah well! She is a 74-year old woman and has been cooking street food for 30+ years wearing a beanie and goggles to protect herself from the hot woks… I was as excited for a picture of her as I was for trying her food since seafood is her thing (and not my thing). We’ll get excited for Saigon and Singapore, which are the other places we will be visiting that are covered by Netflix’s “Street Food” series. 🙂 There are many large pictures honoring the King of Thailand, who has reigned since 2016 when his father (who reigned for 70.5 years) died. There is a strictly enforced law in Thailand which prohibits criticism of the royal family (including their pets) and is punishable by prison sentences up to 35 years. a dad, a daughter, and a teddy bear The buses don’t have doors on them and the windows are always open! I love it when the traffic is like this because then we can cross the street without too much concentration on not being run over by a car or bus or tuk-tuk or motorcycle or bicycle or wheeled street vendor.
