Walking, climbing, escaping, and schooling in Split

We’d figured we would visit two or three islands while we were in Split but the ferries left for the islands in the evening and returned to Split in the morning, which made day trips impossible. Split is much bigger than Dubrovnik and feels more livable to me. We had better weather in Split but also had more success in finding good restaurants and grocery stores (and TWO good coffee shops!). We got good walking exercise (and Michael + William + some combination of the younger boys ran together most days!), climbed the bell tower, did an escape room, and did a lot of schooling. It has been kind of nice not being overwhelmed with options as we make our way up the Dalmatian Coast.

It is still pretty warm in Croatia…
They are pretty excited about the year 1950… We saw graffiti/art on walls like this all over Split. I am pretty sure it is the year that a supporters’ (fan) club started for the local football/soccer team.
One of Split’s sphynxes… brought to Split by the Roman Emperor Diocletian nearly 2,000 years ago
