The trees that grew out of Ta Prohm

Ta Prohm was the third temple that we visited on our whirlwind tour of Angkor Wat. It was really neat! We had very little energy left because it was so hot outside so we didn’t take long. The trees growing out of the buildings were really cool! After the fall of the Khmer Empire in the 15th century, Ta Prohm fell into disrepair. For hundreds of years, Ta Phrom was swallowed up by the Cambodian jungle.  Trees began to grow from the tops of the walls (they get water through the porous sandstone), and as they got bigger, they began to topple the stone walls. If you have watched the movie Tomb Raider (I haven’t), Ta Prohm is the temple where some parts were filmed!
