Being English

Each day in England, I would wake up and excitedly get ready, go make coffee or tea, get some Crunchy Nut cereal, and settle down for a bit and read my book while waiting for my brothers to wake up. It was so relaxing to sit with a book in a quiet room with the English Countryside to keep me company right outside the window. Every day started this way, and every day, after everyone was up and fed, we would leave the house for some sort of fun outing. We drove to Bury St. Edmonds a few times to wander around, one day we drove to visit Aldeburgh (a beautiful town on the North Sea), sometimes we went to Zorka’s club to do a workout, and sometimes we would take a walk through the wheat and barley fields. Then, sometime between lunch and dinner, I would go on a run through the countryside with any combination of my brothers. One of the days, Karen, one of Grandad and Zorka’s friends who we’ve run with in the past, took us to a track club workout in Bury St. Edmonds. It was really fun to have some people to meet and run with! Then, after all the running always came dinner. Dinner was always one of the highlights of each day—Grandad and Zorka make such yummy food. Some of the dishes we had were spaghetti Bolognese,  lamb, chicken curry, cottage pie, burgers, fish cakes, and we always had some roasted vegetables. After dinner, we sometimes had a dessert prepared by Keegan or Tate, and if not, we would eat some Cadburys chocolate, read some more or play cards, and slowly wind down towards bed. Any time during the day that wasn’t spent outside of the house was spent reading, playing piano, doing some schoolwork, or playing spikeball in the yard. It was such a relaxing and fun way to start our trip, and I’ll certainly miss Grandad, Zorka, and the English countryside!
