I remember Sarajevo dominating the news headlines during my preteen/early teen years but I had no clue back then what was going on. We’ve really appreciated studying the history and getting to know the beautiful city.

Thanks so much, Anya, for these wonderful pictures. I didn’t know that Latin Bridge is the spot where Franz and Sophie Ferdinand were assassinated! I always learn something new from your blog. Apparently the city still carries the scars of wars by looking at the buildings. I’m imagining what the city of Sarajevo looked like over 100 years ago before the World War I started?? It must be a beautiful city!
Thanks Ching-Ching! It really does still carry the scars… It felt unbelievable seeing the buildings as they were, knowing the horrors that happened really weren’t that long ago.
It is so cool to see the boys in all these places. What an amazing experience!
Thanks Carmen — we miss you guys!!
Devastating to see these pictures when I’ve been researching the histories. But the people have been so resilient in just this short time! Amazing!
You must know so much now about the Balkans! I hope you guys make a trip of it at some point. It’s a fascinating place with such kind people.
