Below are a bunch of iPhone pictures that didn’t make it into our other posts, but represent some great memories from our time in Bali!
at a restaurant–the food in Bali was outstanding
same restaurant–Keegan got in on both pictures!
having dessert at an incredible spot called Biku. Here, Anya is enjoying chocolate cake, carrot cake, pineapple cake, and banoffee pudding. She tells us they were excellent!
love this sweet shot Anya captured…they weren’t posing, just having a chat
Hidden Canyon cannon ball, Keegie-style
Hidden Canyon Bali Prom Pic–Anya’s corsage must’ve fallen off
Our two guides–Dragonfly was the leader and is closest to the camera
this was at the end of our Canyon trekking where there was a nice spot to relax for a bit before heading out
an obstacle at the Treetop Adventure Park
taken with my phone from the highest point of the course–the depth is hard to gauge but this is about 65 feet off the ground (we’re all safely strapped in using carabiners)
having a chocolate break at a delicious chocolate shop called Pod Bali. It was so good! I especially loved my mocha made with their in-house chocolate. The non-Hartshorn in this shot is our amazing driver Yung who we got to know well after being with her for parts of five different days. She was great and so funny!
a man grabbing a rest on his motorbike
Keegan modeling his new shirt (and new lifestyle), about to enjoy some really good Pho at a place called Bo & Bun. We’ve been craving good Vietnamese food since leaving Vietnam and this place delivered.
one of the fanciest Starbucks I’ve been (a Starbucks Reserve)–unfortunately most of the seating was outdoors, which isn’t very appealing in 100-degree weather
Corner House restaurant, where we had our last dinner in Bali the evening of 3/22. They had a fun promotion where anyone ordering a drink could play rock, paper, scissors with the server for a chance at half off the drink. I lost (rock beats scissors…I was told by my boys that leading with scissors is a major amateur move). Another interesting note from this picture: my family is waving goodbye to the woman in the pink shirt, Ratna, who works at a different restaurant, Warun Nia, that is about a kilometer away from this place. She was out scouting out other restaurants to see if anyone had any customers and just happened to see us (we had eaten at her restaurant a couple times), so she came in to say hello. Bali was still technically open for business on the 22nd, but the tourist areas had pretty much emptied out, leaving businesses confused and scrambling for what to do.
This is one of two Expat Coffee Roasters that we visited on the island…an Australian-owned company that serves a great latte and flat white. We came to this spot most mornings for our last 5-6 days in Bali.
saying goodbye to Yung at the airport, about to head to Edinburgh, through London, through Hong Kong
Some of us were very impressed with this bathroom monitor at the Hong Kong airport. Ever walked into a public restroom and become frozen with indecision because you can’t decide which stall to try? At Hong Kong airport, you can make a game plan before setting foot inside restroom! Just identify a “green” stall and approach it with confidence once inside, knowing that it’ll be unoccupied. Please note, if you’re red-green colorblind (like half of my children), caution is still encouraged.
I have to say what grabs my attention the most is the bathroom panel. Amazing! And difficult for folks like your kids (and my dad) – which could still lead to some confusion. Thanks for sharing the extra pics.
I also love how they call them toilet cubicles 😆
Nice collection of stickers on the suitcases….
They’re starting to fill up! We’re saving a spot for NZ some day…
