Belém Tower and Pastéis de Belém

On our last day in Lisbon, we had a couple more places to visit that were too far to walk to, so we took a quick car ride to the west end of town to see a couple monuments and a monastery. The most interesting spot where we spent some time was Belém Tower, which was built in the 1500s as an entry and exit point for Portuguese maritime exploration. We also took the opportunity to get some pastéis de nata at the nearby Pastéis de Belém, which was recommended to us by a friend and has over 48,000 reviews on Google. That night, for our last meal in Lisbon, we decided to go for burgers and they were excellent! We’ve really enjoyed the cuisine in Portugal, and somewhat surprisingly have had some of the best burgers of the trip here.

Belém Tower
we love these little Portuguese egg tarts
I must have a thousand of these pictures from our trip where it’s just the rest of my family walking through some quaint street on our way to eat or see something. In the context of the trip, these are unremarkable moments in time, but these are also the types of everyday instances that I want to remember clearly forever
our last dinner in Lisbon: delicious burgers at A Cultura do Hambúrguer–we loved the light fixtures at this place
