I want to go back!

We had such a nice ten days in Luang Prabang; I could’ve happily stayed there for much longer! The city is beautiful–a mix of Lao and French colonial architecture–and built on a peninsula in mountainous Northern Laos. The city is a navigable size and there are sidewalks…such a plus for the six of us when trying to get around! We loved getting to know some Lao people including Xayphone from the slow boat and the staff/students at the English language school. We met so many incredibly kind people in Laos, had many enjoyable meals, found delicious coffee, and loved the views of the Nam Khan and Mekong Rivers.

It’s so hard to answer the question, “What have been some of your favorite places?”–I find myself starting to list almost every place we’ve been! But I do think Luang Prabang, starting with our slow boat ride down the Mekong River, will remain a highlight from our time abroad this year.

one evening we walked up Phousi Hill, a 300-stair climb up the hill/small mountain in Louang Prabang to see the sunset… Half of the tourists in the city had the same idea, so it was rather crowded, but the views were pretty and the exercise was nice!
