A few days in Athens

I hadn’t been in Athens since 2004 and I remembered it as being a pretty filthy city (there is so much litter!), but I wound up loving it a lot more than I remembered from the other times I’d been there. It is very lively with cute neighborhoods, good restaurants, and very nice people! William again impressed us with his knowledge of history — Greek history and Greek mythology, which I cannot keep straight! Who is real? Which places are real? Which stories are real and which are mythology? Still trying to figure it out!

Parthenon, built in mid-5th century B.C. and dedicated to the Greek goddess Athena
Odeon of Herodes Atticus at the Acropolis of Athens, completed in mid 2nd century
Erechtheion, built in early 5th century B.C…. dedicated to Athena and Poseidon
We enjoyed watching a couple tortoises crawling around at the Ancient Agora (a market of Ancient Greece)
Church of the Holy Apostles at the Ancient Agora
