After seeing Stratford-upon-Avon, we drove through the Cotswolds and stopped in many villages along the way to our next house. The stop before our house was a really pretty and peaceful area called Bibury where we walked up a big hill. We saw a vole, which is kind of like a huge furry mouse. It was actually pretty cute. When we got to Cirencester, where we were staying, we ate at an Italian restaurant. They sure knew what they were doing! The food was incredible! It was probably my favorite meal on our trip so far. We also got to see Stonehenge!
Stonehenge was so neat! Here are some things that we learned about Stonehenge.
Even though the rocks are very grey, when they were first dug out and placed about 3000 BC, the rocks were gleaming white. The stones in the middle were brought to the site around 2500 BC. The first Stonehenge was a circular enclosure of about 360 feet in its diameter. A lot of stones were brought from hundreds of miles away and they were really heavy, weighing on average 25 tons each. No one really knows why Stonehenge was built but people think that it was for religious practices.
Seeing Stonehenge was so cool.
Tate, thanks for your observations and info about Stonehenge. Thanks for sharing your pictures and comments on FOOD!
Very interesting Tate. I believe this is the same as we saw when we were there in England. We love hearing from each of you on this wonderful trip. Gpa and Gma.
