Even though we accidentally got on the wrong ferry (ferries in Greece are so confusing!), we made it to Corfu! At the Albanian port, no one ever checked our tickets and there were no signs for which ferry to get on. We wound up finding one that was run by the company we were looking for, so figured that must be the right one. We were boarding at 9:00am for our 10:00 ferry, thinking we were just boarding early, but it turned out we joined the 9:00 ferry! No one every knew because no one ever looked at our tickets. It was nice to get to Corfu earlier than planned!
Corfu is an island off the west coast of Greece, and it is soooo hot! A lot of the days were mid 90s RealFeel high 90s, but a couple of the days were around 100F, with the RealFeel being 110F!
We had a routine in Corfu that we followed pretty much every day, and here is the schedule:
8-10a.m. — wake up, get ready, eat breakfast, get coffee (we take turns going with Mom and Dad)
10-11.30a.m. — work on stuff like blog posts, reading, and writing college essays (Findlay), or Mom and I would play cards
11.30a.m.-2p.m. — get gyros and afternoon coffee
2-3.30p.m. — work some more
3:30-5p.m. — walk to our swimming spot, swim, and then walk back to the apartment
5-7p.m. — dinner
7:30-8:30p.m.-ish — run
8:30-9.15p.m. — get ice cream and walk back to apartment
9:15p.m.-? — watch a show and then goodnight!
We had a very relaxing schedule, and everything was within a mile of our place!
At the swimming place I worked up the courage to do a flip, so I did 2 flips. On the 3rd one, I jumped out and sent it as hard as I could, and I was so focused on jumping far and high that I forgot to tuck! I did a very well-executed bellyflop, and my stomach was red for hours after that!
Most days we went to a delicious gyro place where we made multiple friends! The food was delicious and so flavorful, and the owner kept giving us free freshly shaved pork straight from the rotisserie! The guy that took our orders also gave us free pita and he gave me a free drink!
Another thing that the owner gave me was advice: “Be careful with the sun, it is very hot and you are very very white.”
I will miss that gyro restaurant, and I will always remember that freshly shaved pork.

Long dock at Mon Repos Beach where we could jump off the end into the Ionian Sea

Another swimming spot with a shorter dock

Accessible ramp into the sea near one of our swimming spots

Corfu heat kept us nice and sweaty
