“This is possibly the hottest I’ve ever been.” This thought crossed my mind almost every day in Corfu. We were there for a little over a week, and the high temperature for the day was almost always above 95F, often above 100F. This meant that we had to go for our runs after dinner when the sun had gone down. We tried at first to go during the day, but that was probably dangerous, so we changed our strategy to going after dinner when it was still 90 degrees, but without the blaring sun. We found a Greek track pretty close to our place which kind of surprised me given that we were on a fairly small island! William and I did a fun workout one night, and I went back for another after William abandoned us to return to UNC. That time, I met some really nice kids about my age who run for the Greek National Team! They were so friendly and I could tell they loved putting their English skills to use!
Our days included morning coffee, usually a French lesson for me, lunch at a delicious gyro restaurant called Mythos and Grill, afternoon coffee, a bit of work time at the apartment, a swim session in the ocean, dinner, a run, gelato, then Gilmore Girls before bed. It was really fun to settle into this routine after traveling quickly between Albanian cities for the prior week. The city and ocean were beautiful and the food and coffee were really yummy, so that was a perfect recipe for an amazing stay in Corfu!

Nightly gelato from Papagiorgis Patiserie-Gelateria – sometimes the sweaty runners would meet the rest of the family there post-run

Friendly Greek runners!

Our favorite coffee shop on Corfu was called Cafetierra and had a couple locations. We liked to go to this one (Plakado) in the afternoon since it had indoor seating

This sweet kitty was perched just outside the door to our apartment building, often resting on its cardboard and nuzzling against the rusty rail

We loved wandering through the winding streets of Corfu and taking in all the sights, sounds, and smells
