A day in the life of me (in Tirana, Albania) đŸ‡ŠđŸ‡±

At 2:00 in the morning, we woke up to get ready to leave Oslo.

We had a flight at 6:20 a.m., and that took us to Tirana. We stayed in Tirana for one whole day, and then 2 half days. We did activities including:

  • – We ate at many a different restaurants, making friends at every one
  • – More running
  • – Tirana tour (on foot)
  • – And last but not least, we saw baby pigeons!

At every restaurant that we ate at, we always befriended the servers. They joked with us, came up with different names for me (whether ‘child’, ‘baby’, ‘little boy’, or ‘you’), and sometimes they even gave us delicious free food! At one Italian restaurant, after dinner the server came out with this really big platter of desserts! There was fruit, ice cream, some different caramel-like sauces, and other things that I didn’t know what they were! After we finished that, our waiter brought out this fancy glass container with clear liquid inside, and 6 shot glasses. He told us that it was grappa, and I still don’t really know what that is! Perhaps a type of brandy. While he was filling the glasses up, my parents thanked him and requested that he fill 5 instead of 6, but he filled up 6 anyways. He set one at my spot and said to me ‘I would recommend not drinking this, it is very strong.’ I had a small sip and agreed!

While we were there, as usual, we did tons of walking and running! We did a tour of Tirana and walked up this tall tower (103 stairs) and saw baby pigeons at the top! They didn’t have feathers and they had really long necks, but for some reason they were almost kind of cute.

Tirana was really fun to be in! The waiters were all so kind, the views from the tour were amazing, and it was so interesting to be in a city so different from where I live! At any point on the street, there could be a large store selling phones and phone cases and electronic devices, or there could be a tiny little hut selling traditional Albanian roasted vegetables with room for 3 people! I love being in a place like this and it would be great to get to come back to Albania!
