We have enjoyed the food we have had from all the countries we’ve been to, but sometimes we feel like we need a break from the local cuisine. We all love Italian food but after a while of being in Italy, we decided to find something else for a change, so that’s when we found doner kebab. The date was August 12, 2019, and we were in Florence, when we happened to stumble along Istanbul Doner Kebab. We all loved it!! It was the best thing that ever happened to me! So it became a tradition. We got doner kebab a couple more times in Italy but they weren’t as good as the one in Florence. We had doner kebab in Gdansk (Poland) but they did not know how to make it well there. There were sweet potatoes and some sort of disgusting sweet carrot situation. I think I have finally recovered from that doner debab so I am ready to get it again.

We have also had some other yummy foods like Indian food, Thai food, and lots of other Asian foods. Some of our most recent favorites have been Vietnamese foods, like pho, bun bo nam bo, and bahn mi. Banh Mi is a delicious Vietnamese sandwich with chicken or beef and yummy vegetables and sauce.
My favorite food tradition of all is finding Lindt chocolate shops. We have visited Lindt shops seven times (Rome, Florence, Milan, Venice, Berlin, Warsaw, and Vienna)!! Because of this trip, Lindt chocolate has been bumped up to my favorite brand of chocolate. Mom and Dad always let us get a few Lindt roulettes and once in a while also a chocolate bar. Most of us like to eat our chocolate but Tate hoards his and still has some from Florence…six Lindt shops ago!! When we give him a hard time about it, he says, “Not your chocolate, not your problem!”
The chocolate situation is hilarious! Thanks for describing it. I absolutely LOVE donor kabob! When I first had it in Germany it was a revelation. I still miss it and even though I like Gyros here – it’s not the same.
Yes, Lindt is my favorite! I even think that Lindt in Switzerland and Germany are the best. Maybe it’s just me, I think the taste of Lindt chocolates in the U.S. are different from the ones from Switzerland. I am curious if the Lindt you get in one country, say in Italy have a different taste from the ones in Warsaw?
